Itinerary
Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll be greet by our local representative and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. Take the rest of the day to relax or explore the nearby streets of Thamel at your leisure. In the evening, you’ll have a brief orientation about the upcoming trek and can finalize any preparations or gear checks.
After breakfast, take a short domestic flight (approximately 25 minutes) from Kathmandu to Pokhara, a scenic lakeside city renowned for its tranquil atmosphere and stunning mountain views. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy free time to stroll around Phewa Lake, visit local cafés, or explore other attractions such as Devi’s Falls or the International Mountain Museum.
Early in the morning, board a breathtaking flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, the administrative center of Mustang district. From here, begin your trek with a relatively gentle walk along the Kali Gandaki River. The route takes you through a windswept landscape typical of the lower Mustang region. By afternoon, you’ll reach Kagbeni, a charming medieval village with narrow alleyways, traditional mud-brick houses, and a backdrop of towering Himalayan peaks.
Today involves a steady climb from Kagbeni toward Muktinath, one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for both Hindus and Buddhists. En route, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and other majestic peaks. Upon arrival in Muktinath, you can visit the famous temple complex, where 108 water spouts (mukti dharas) and a continuously burning natural flame draw devotees from around the world. Overnight in a local lodge with spectacular mountain vistas.
Descend from Muktinath back toward the Kali Gandaki valley, passing through the bustling town of Jomsom and continuing to Marpha, famous for its apple orchards and well-kept stone pathways. Along the way, you’ll witness the changing landscape—from high-altitude desert terrain to the more cultivated fields closer to Marpha. In Marpha, be sure to try the local apple pie or apple brandy, both beloved treats in the region.
The trek continues down the Kali Gandaki River valley, passing picturesque Thakali villages. The trail offers views of towering peaks such as Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri. By afternoon, you’ll arrive in Kalopani, a settlement set amidst forests and farmland. Here, you can relish the crisp mountain air and enjoy the hospitality of local teahouses.
Descend further into warmer climates as the trail meanders through terraced fields and subtropical forests. You’ll eventually reach Tatopani, known for its natural hot springs. After several days of trekking, soaking in these mineral-rich waters is a delight, easing tired muscles and offering a chance to unwind under a starlit Himalayan sky.
Leaving Tatopani, prepare for a long ascent through rhododendron and oak forests, with occasional glimpses of surrounding peaks. The route gradually climbs to Ghorepani, a popular stopover for trekkers heading to Poon Hill. Here, you’ll settle into a teahouse and prepare for an early morning hike to see one of Nepal’s most famous sunrise panoramas—although that short excursion can be added on the following day if you wish to include it.
Begin the final leg of your trek with a descent from Ghorepani through lush forests and scenic villages. After several hours of walking, you’ll reach Nayapul, where a vehicle will be waiting. A short drive brings you back to Pokhara, where you can relax at your lakeside hotel. Enjoy a well-earned shower, a variety of international or local cuisine, and perhaps a celebratory drink by Phewa Lake.
Take a short domestic flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu, soaring above terraced hills and verdant valleys. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. The afternoon is free for you to explore the capital city—visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), or Kathmandu Durbar Square. Alternatively, delve into Kathmandu’s lively markets for souvenir shopping.
Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to enjoy a final stroll through the city or relax at your hotel. At the designated time, you’ll be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward journey. Depart Nepal with lasting memories of the Kali Gandaki valley, Muktinath’s sacred energy, and the rich tapestry of Himalayan culture experienced along the way.
