Itinerary

Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by your local representative and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax, explore the nearby markets, or simply recover from your journey. In the evening, you’ll have a brief orientation on Nepal’s culture and trekking etiquettes, setting the stage for your upcoming adventure.

In the morning, attend a short briefing where you’ll meet your trekking guide, discuss the route, and ensure you have all the necessary gear. Later, immerse yourself in Kathmandu’s spiritual heritage with visits to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. First, explore Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Witness the temple’s rituals and observe the sacred Bagmati River ghats. Next, head to the grand Boudhanath Stupa, an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists. Walk around the giant dome, spinning prayer wheels and soaking in the serene ambiance. Return to your hotel for a restful evening.

After breakfast, you’ll either embark on a scenic 6-7 hour drive through Nepal’s countryside or take a short 25-minute flight to Pokhara (820m / 2,690ft)—often called the “City of Lakes.” Upon arrival, check into your hotel near Phewa Lake. Spend the afternoon exploring Pokhara’s laid-back atmosphere, strolling along the lakeside, or visiting local attractions such as Devi’s Falls, Gupteshwor Cave, or the International Mountain Museum. Enjoy a lakeside dinner with picturesque mountain views in the background.

An early morning drive takes you to the trailhead (often Nayapul or a nearby point), marking the start of your trekking adventure. The initial path winds through terraced fields, crossing small villages and suspension bridges over rushing streams. Gradually, you’ll ascend stone steps toward Ulleri, a quaint Magar village perched on a hillside. On arrival, settle into a local teahouse, where you can savor a hot meal and rest while admiring views of the surrounding valleys.

Today’s trek traverses beautiful rhododendron forests, especially vibrant in spring when the blossoms paint the hillsides in shades of pink and red. You’ll follow a well-established path with occasional steep sections that reward you with panoramic vistas of the Annapurna range. By afternoon, arrive in Ghorepani, a popular stopover on the route. This village offers comfortable teahouses and an early glimpse of the spectacular mountains you’ll see from Poon Hill tomorrow.

Before dawn, start a short but steep ascent to Poon Hill, a renowned vantage point for sunrise views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. As the sun illuminates the snow-capped peaks in a golden glow, you’ll feel the immense beauty of the Himalayas unfold before you. After soaking in this breathtaking moment, return to Ghorepani for breakfast. Continue trekking through lush forests and rolling hills to reach Tadapani, a small settlement with dramatic mountain backdrops and a peaceful setting for the night.

Depart Tadapani and descend along a forested trail, alive with birdsong and occasional monkey sightings. The route passes through Gurung villages and terraced farmland, offering a glimpse of rural life in the Annapurna region. A final uphill climb brings you to Chhomrong, often considered the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary. Chhomrong boasts panoramic views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli, as well as welcoming teahouses where you can relax and refuel.

From Chhomrong, descend stone steps to cross the Chhomrong Khola before climbing up again toward Sinuwa and then on to Bamboo. The trail transitions into a lush jungle environment, with bamboo groves and damp mossy rocks, providing a cool and serene hiking atmosphere. As you press forward, you’ll notice the rising mountains closing in on you. By late afternoon, you’ll reach the settlement known as Himalaya, where you’ll rest and prepare for higher elevations.

Continuing your ascent into the Annapurna Sanctuary, the trail becomes more rugged and the air thinner. Pass through the small settlement of Deurali, taking in views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail)—one of Nepal’s most iconic peaks—looming overhead. By day’s end, arrive at Machhapuchhre Base Camp, a scenic spot that offers a closer look at Fishtail’s majestic slopes and serves as a precursor to the highlight of your journey: Annapurna Base Camp.

Today marks one of the most spectacular segments of your trek. Leave Machhapuchhre Base Camp and enter the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, surrounded by towering peaks that form a natural amphitheater. Gradually ascend to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), standing at 4,130m. The panoramic vistas of the Annapurna Massif are truly awe-inspiring, with Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre encircling the base camp. Spend the night in this surreal setting, often waking up to a dramatic sunrise painting the peaks in golden hues.

Rise early to witness the first light hitting the Himalayan giants. After breakfast, take some time to explore the surrounding glaciers, enjoy photography, and soak in the grandeur of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Begin your descent thereafter, retracing your steps through Machhapuchhre Base Camp and down into denser forest zones. By afternoon, arrive in Bamboo, where the lower altitude and tranquil setting offer a comfortable night’s rest after the high-altitude experience at ABC.

Depart Bamboo and follow the trail back through Sinuwa and Chhomrong. From here, you’ll descend toward Jhinu Danda, a village famous for its natural hot springs located a short walk down from the main lodge area. Upon reaching Jhinu, you can soak in the warm, mineral-rich waters that help soothe tired muscles—a delightful treat after days of trekking in the mountains.

Today’s trek takes you along winding paths through terraced fields and forested hills, passing small settlements where farmers tend to their land. As you gradually ascend, you’ll catch glimpses of the Annapurna range and surrounding valleys. Arrive at Pothana, a quiet spot offering stunning mountain views. The teahouses here are cozy, and you can reflect on your journey so far while mingling with fellow trekkers.

Embark on a mostly downhill trek toward Phedi, where you’ll say farewell to the mountain trails. A short drive brings you back to Pokhara, where hot showers and comfortable hotels await. Spend the remainder of the day relaxing by Phewa Lake, savoring lakeside cuisine, or perhaps indulging in a well-deserved massage. Enjoy a restful evening, celebrating the completion of your trek in this tranquil city.

Bid adieu to Pokhara’s laid-back ambiance as you either drive or fly back to Kathmandu (1,400m / 4,600ft). Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in the city. The rest of the day is at your leisure—explore Kathmandu’s shops, enjoy local street food, or simply rest in preparation for the next day’s cultural excursions.

Delve deeper into the Kathmandu Valley’s rich history and art by visiting two significant UNESCO World Heritage Sites. First, head to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, intricate wood carvings, and pottery square. Afterward, explore Kathmandu Durbar Square, where ancient palaces, temples, and courtyards showcase the city’s regal past. Strolling around these squares offers a vivid insight into Nepal’s royal heritage and centuries-old craftsmanship.

On your last day in Nepal, depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a final stroll through Kathmandu’s vibrant streets to pick up souvenirs or enjoy one more cup of Nepali tea. At the designated time, you’ll be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward journey, taking with you unforgettable memories of the Himalayas, Nepali culture, and the warm hospitality experienced throughout your stay.
