The Gosaikunda Pass Trek is a challenging and rewarding trek that takes you to the sacred lakes of Gosaikunda and over the high-altitude Lauribina Pass. This trek offers breathtaking mountain views, beautiful landscapes, and an opportunity to experience the spiritual significance of the holy lakes.

Overview

Gosaikund Trek is one of the most famous short trekking in Nepal, It is in the Langtang region and protected as Langtang National park. It contains a wide variety of climatic zones, from subtropical to alpine, so that this region is also one of the very rich in flora and fauna in Nepal. Moreover, Gosaikund is very famous for Hindu pilgrimage, according to Hinduism mythology where Lord shiva had relaxed and reformatted. It is known as the holiest Gosainkunda Lakes (4,380m) and the beginning source of the Trisuli River. Once in a year, hundreds of thousand Hindus made a pilgrimage here in the month of August.

Itinerary

Arrive in Kathmandu , transfer to hotel. Preparation for the Trek

Morning – a short briefing on the trek and its preparations; afternoon – Cultural visit to Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa.

On the first day of your nine days at Langtang Gosaikunda Lake Trek, you’ll drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche. It’s an 6-7 hours drive with a public bus. However, the drive time is six comfortable hours on a private vehicle.

Its our first day we trek from Dhunche to Thulo Syabru. trek about 5-6 hours.

Despite the short walking distance between Thulo Syabru and Lauribinayak, the ascending sections of the route are tiring. And when the sun comes strong during the day, it becomes difficult to maintain the pace.

You’ll start the trek after breakfast at the tea house. From Thulo Syabru, you’ll trek to the beautiful landscape of Munkharka. Here, you’ll stop for lunch.

Past Munkharka, you’ll trek through the beautiful rhododendron and juniper forest. After two hours from Munkharka, you’ll reach Cholangpati.

After a few minutes of rest at Cholangpati, you’ll trek to Lauribinayak.

Since it’s among the longest walking days on the trek, you’ll start it early. You’ll start the trek to Gosaikunda Lake from Lauribinayak around 5 am. As you reach the Buddha Mandir around 6 am, you’ll get a beautiful sunrise view over the entire Langtang mountains.

The route to Buddha Mandir is uphill. However, it gets easier with less steeper sections.

You can take a holy bath and pray at the lake. You’ll have breakfast at the tea house with a panoramic view of the Gosaikunda Lake.

After sightseeing for one hour at the lake, you’ll prepare for the return trek. You’ll trek down to Lauribinayak, Cholangpati, Sing Gompa, Dhimsa, and Deurali.

You’ll stop at a tea house in Deurali for overnight accommodation.

You’ll leave Deurali to Dhunche at 6 am. It takes two hours to trek down to Dhunche.

For most, you’ll descend. However, once you reach Mini Gosaikunda, the trekking routes get flat. And you’ll have a pleasant walking till Dhunche.

You’ll stop at a restaurant in Dhunche for breakfast.

After breakfast, you’ll take a bus to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you’ll get a hotel transfer in a taxi or a private vehicle.

With this, your nine days Langtang Gosaikunda Trek ends.

The drive from Dhunche to Kathmandu is a scenic and adventurous journey that takes approximately 7 to 9 hours by jeep or bus. Starting early in the morning from Dhunche, the road winds down through lush pine forests, terraced hillsides, and traditional Tamang villages. Along the way, travelers can stop briefly in small settlements like Grang or Betrawati for tea and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Trishuli River and distant Himalayan peaks. A longer stop is usually made in Trishuli Bazaar around midday, where visitors can have a traditional Nepali lunch and stretch their legs. The second half of the journey passes through busy mid-hill towns and becomes gradually smoother as you descend into the Kathmandu Valley. Despite being long and bumpy at times, the drive is filled with cultural glimpses and natural beauty, making it a memorable conclusion to a trek in the Langtang region.
